Proposed Session Description: Success requires more than high-performing individuals; it requires high-performing teams built on a foundation of trust, candour and psychological safety that empower each team member to contribute authentically and fully to the team’s work. In this session, we will explore how to unlock the 5 Principles that Canadian Management Centre has found to be most critical to fostering a strong, trust-based team culture. This education session is intended for people leaders, with the overarching purpose of exploring and defining the principles that establish the foundation of trust, essential for high-performing teams. Participants will gain clarity and alignment on the values and behaviours that effective leaders and team members demonstrate in their day-to-day interactions and will leave the workshop prepared to lead by example and foster these principles in their own work environment.
The goal for participants is to consider what might be lurking below the surface in their company culture (specifically tied to the new working models, change within teams etc.) and how they, as leaders - whether they have a formal leadership title or not, show up in demonstrating these guiding principles and how they might leverage these principles in attending to the culture elements and engaging their teams.
Learning Objectives:
Examine how organizational culture is defined by shared principles and norms of behaviour, grounded in a set of common values, and understand the link between culture and organizational results.
List and Describe the 5 guiding principles, the behaviours and actions associated with each, and the impact of fully applying each.
Explain how the 5 principles contribute to a positive work environment and culture founded on psychological safety and trust.
Recognize your strengths and gaps in applying these principles and commit to concrete actions related to building a strong team culture.
