Dr. Hendrickson is a pediatric hematologist and transfusion medicine specialist. She serves as a Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine, Medical Director, Hemapheresis Service Emory University Hospital and Associate Director of the Emory Center for Transfusion and Cellular Therapies.
Her clinical interests include factors influencing alloimmunization (particularly red blood cell alloimmunization), as well as strategies to minimize the formation and dangers of such antibodies. Her translational research interests include investigating the induction and consequences of red blood cell alloantibodies in transfusion and pregnancy situations. Dr. Hendrickson is a 2023 AABB President's award recipient for her extensive efforts and leadership in setting up a national alloimmunization registry.
