Dr. Eric Matthews is Professor and Chair of Health Sciences for A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc) program within the College of Graduate Health Studies (ATSU-CGHS). He has been a faculty member at ATSU since 2012 and brings over 25 years of experience in higher education. Prior to joining ATSU, he directed a large radiography program in Illinois. A medical imaging professional by training, Dr. Matthews is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiography, Cardiovascular-Interventional Technology, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Southern Illinois University with a focus on adult and vocational/technical education (Workforce Education and Development), a Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University, and graduate degrees in Education (Administration and Supervision) and Museum Studies. He is also a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission and a Quality Matters Master Reviewer, Program Reviewer, and Online Facilitator. His scholarly interests include medical and educational history, with a particular focus on 19th-century American medicine. He has taught numerous courses in these areas and has served as a subject matter expert for several museums and historical institutions. In recognition of his excellence in teaching, Dr. Matthews was named Professor of the Year at ATSU.
