Dr. Elizabeth Allen is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Associate Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine at the University of California San Diego. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues around the country on research projects, with many of her publications focusing on the practical aspects of running a hospital-based transfusion service. She earned her bachelor of arts in Cognitive Science cum laude from Yale University, followed by an MD from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She then completed her residency in Clinical Pathology at the University of California Irvine, where she served as Chief Resident, and her fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at the National Institutes of Health.
She is the roommate of a mischievous little black dog, Penny, and once received a blood sample for testing from the San Diego Zoo.
